Once you have decided to have a nose job you have to start preparing with your surgeon! Pre-operative examination, including routine blood tests plus immune tetralogy, blood pressure, and 3D CT examination of the rib cartilage. Make sure that you are in good health and free from infectious diseases or other inflammatory body conditions. Women should not undergo autologous rib cartilage rhinoplasty during their menstrual period. The day before the rhinoplasty, patients need to take a shower and wash the oil from the face so that bacteria are reduced, and they also need to clean the nasal cavity and cut nasal hair. Do not take medications containing aspirin before the plastic surgery, as the medications can make the platelet clotting function reduced. Anesthesia is usually local plus sedation or general anesthesia, and fasting is required for more than 6-8 hours before surgery, so it is usually necessary to fast and abstain from food and water after 12:00 pm the night before surgery. After surgery, the back of the nose will be splinted and the nostrils with incisions will be filled with a small piece of gauze or nasal plugs in order to compress the wound to reduce pain and prevent bacteria from entering. The gauze needs to be changed on the 1st day after surgery. The nostrils need to be wiped with iodophor every day after surgery to keep the wound clean. Pay attention to nutritional intake to increase immune resistance, keep warm and prevent colds. On the first day after surgery, there may be a little bloody liquid coming out from the nostril of the surgical incision, which can be gently wiped away with sterilized cotton fiber, do not touch the wound with anything that is not sterilized to avoid contamination. 24 hours can be spent on cold compresses to help reduce swelling. After the surgery, there is mild swelling and pain at the tip and back of the nose, and the middle of the face starts to swell up, these are normal reactions, the candidates need not worry too much, keep a calm mind and pay attention to rest. The diet should be strengthened with nutrition and increased protein intake. The nasal and facial pain will gradually decrease, but the swelling will become more and more obvious, and the outline of the external nasal form will be unclear. The swollen face may look unsightly, which is a normal reaction and a process that the candidate must go through. What you need to do is to wait patiently for the swelling to subside. You should keep your nose and face clean, try not to touch the nose wound directly with your hands and not to let foreign objects hit your nose. Avoid spicy and stimulating food, eat more fruits and vegetables, and pay attention to protein supplementation. Facial blood circulation is rich, so the swelling is more dramatic after the trauma, but the swelling will also be reduced quickly. After the swelling gradually decreases, the color of the stasis area around both eyes gradually changes from red to yellow, and there is still discomfort at the tip and back of the nose. If there is conjunctival stasis, the stasis basically disappears at this stage. The splinting of the nose can be taken down or left in place depending on the situation, but the skin on the back of the nose and face should be cleaned up. At this time, the patient does not have to lie or sit in bed all the time, but can do some simple activities and maintain a good mood. There is obvious relief of facial stasis, but the nose shape is not yet very natural, and the skin of the back and tip of the nose is shiny. The wound has basically healed. The post-operative recovery period is a slow process, and the length of time varies according to the individual body type of the candidates; therefore, there is no need to be too nervous to keep consulting the doctor about the swelling, as long as there is no special redness, pain or inflammation, just wait patiently for the post-operative results!
