The cause of frequent bowel movements is related to the frequency, if it is two or three times a day is normal, no need to worry and treatment. If the frequency is greater than three times, there are physiological and pathological reasons, such as over-eating, acute gastroenteritis, etc., should be relieved according to the specific circumstances.
1. Physiological:
(1) Over-eating: if you eat too much food, the patient’s own digestive ability is too strong, and there are more food residues in the stomach and intestines, so you will have bowel movements several times a day.
(2) Female physiological period: female patients also have frequent bowel movements during physiological period. Because during the physiological period, the patient’s body usually produces more prostaglandins, and the increased prostaglandins will stimulate the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in the symptoms of increased bowel movements.
2. Pathologic:
(1) diarrhea: due to viral infection of the intestinal tract, the intestinal tract will accelerate peristalsis in order to expel the virus from the body, at this time, the patient will have frequent bowel movements, and the stools are watery.
(2) Acute gastroenteritis: patients with acute gastroenteritis will stimulate the gastrointestinal tract due to disease-causing factors, resulting in gastrointestinal mucosal congestion, edema, etc., and then stimulate the adenylate cyclase system, resulting in rapid increase in the secretion of intestinal fluids, and the main clinical manifestation is diarrhea.
There may be other reasons for frequent bowel movements, if the symptoms continue to be unrelieved, it is recommended to consult a doctor in a timely manner, under the guidance of a doctor to clarify the cause and targeted treatment, do not take medication, in order to avoid delays in the condition.
