The bilateral adnexa of the uterus are the ovaries and fallopian tubes on both sides of the uterus. Medically, the ovaries and fallopian tubes are called adnexa, both are female pelvic organs that play an important role in women’s menstruation and fertility. The uterus generally has a role in menstruation and childbirth; the ovaries secrete progesterone and estrogen, which will play an important role in menstruation and female physiological functions; and the fallopian tubes carry sperm, eggs and fertilized eggs. Problems with any one of the three organs can lead to abnormal menstruation, infertility or miscarriage.
