Balance function: An important function of the ear is the balance function, which is mainly played by the vestibular organ of the inner ear. If a patient has a disease condition in the vestibular organ of the inner ear, it may cause the patient to have symptoms of vertigo, a sense of visual rotation, and the inability to stand or walk.
