Does Thyroid Cancer Puncture Cause Cancer to Spread

The likelihood of a thyroid cancer puncture causing the cancer to spread is extremely low, and this concern is unwarranted; puncture is one of the less damaging and dangerous types of biopsy.
Theoretically, both puncture biopsy and excision biopsy of thyroid cancer, and even forceful touching will lead to injury, and there is a possibility of cancer cells entering the bloodstream.
However, in practice, the entry of cancer cells into the blood does not mean the cancer has spread or metastasized. Cancer cells in the blood are usually killed due to lack of viability or by the body’s immune cells. It is an extremely complicated process for cancer cells to stay and multiply in a certain tissue, and most of the cancer cells present in the blood are unable to stay and multiply.
In general, after the diagnosis of thyroid cancer is confirmed by a puncture biopsy, radical surgery is performed to remove the lesion within a short period of time, and the possibility of localized spread of the cancer cells caused by the puncture is small.
Puncture biopsy for thyroid cancer patients will inevitably lead to a certain degree of damage, but compared with other pathological examination methods such as excision biopsy, it is a less damaging method, with fewer cancer cells overflowing and lower risk.
Patients are advised to adjust their mindset, reduce unnecessary worries, and actively cooperate with the examination and treatment program.
