You can take insulin for high blood sugar after chemotherapy.
During chemotherapy, glucocorticoids, one of the anti-tumor drugs, are used in combination with chemotherapy drugs. However, glucocorticosteroids may cause elevated blood sugar and trigger stress diabetes. Therefore, some patients will have elevated blood sugar after chemotherapy. If the chemotherapy is prolonged, high blood sugar will persist. If the blood sugar does not drop with hypoglycemic drugs, insulin can be given to lower the blood sugar.
For high blood sugar caused by chemotherapy, hypoglycemic drugs are preferred for hypoglycemic treatment, such as metformin tablets and glipizide tablets. However, the use and dosage of hypoglycemic drugs should be taken in strict accordance with medical advice.
In the case of poor effect of drugs to lower sugar, it is recommended to consider whether to take insulin or not in conjunction with the professional doctor’s advice.
