The target organ of novel coronavirus infection is mainly in the lungs. In patients with common type novel coronavirus pneumonia, the main manifestations are cough, fever and progressive chest tightness and shortness of breath. A CT examination of the lungs reveals that the periphery of the lungs is characterized by ground glass shadows. However, it is also found that some patients infected with novel coronavirus have a mild clinical course, manifesting only as cough or fever for a short period of time, and do not show obvious symptoms of chest tightness and shortness of breath, and even some patients do not show multiple ground-glass shadows by lung CT examination. Therefore, the absence of multiple ground-glass shadows by lung CT examination does not in itself negate the novel coronavirus infection. Pathogenetic examination, including viral nucleic acid testing, is required to determine whether the patient is infected with novel coronavirus. Content source: Dr. You Lai
