Can a pregnancy cold affect the fetus?

A cold that occurs during pregnancy usually does not affect the healthy growth and development of the fetus. However, if the cold is severe, with symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing or bronchitis or pneumonia with high fever, the health of the fetus may be affected. If you have a high fever or pneumonia for a long time, it means that there is an inflammatory infection, which will cause the fetus to have symptoms of ischemia and hypoxia in the uterus. If the fever persists for a long time, it may easily lead to fetal developmental malformations, or cause the fetus to be premature or miscarried. This requires symptomatic treatment according to the individual case.
