Is the new pneumonia a high fever or a low fever

Through the current observation of patients with novel coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan and other regions, most of the patients’ body temperatures are concentrated in the range of 38℃-39℃, which is a moderate fever temperature. This includes some patients with high fever and some patients with low fever. The high or low body temperature depends mainly on the immune status of the patient. Some patients, such as the elderly, frail or with underlying diseases, have a body temperature of 37℃-38℃, but can often be combined with serious complications, such as respiratory failure, renal failure, coagulation problems and multi-organ failure, and such hypothermic patients suggest a more serious disease. It is not possible to determine definitively whether a patient is in a state of novel coronavirus infection from the patient’s temperature alone. Patients with all stages of temperature are present, but it is not possible to determine the severity of the patient from the high or low temperature. The severity is judged mainly based on a combination of age, symptoms, and other organ function. Content source: Dr. You Lai
