Sore throat may be caused by acute epiglottitis, acute suppurative tonsillitis, pharyngeal cancer and other diseases, and should be given targeted treatment measures according to the specific causes.
1. Acute epiglottitis: manifested by severe sore throat, fever, dyspnea and so on. Antibiotics and glucocorticosteroids such as penicillin and dexamethasone should be applied systemically, and tracheotomy should be performed in time if drug treatment is ineffective and respiratory difficulty occurs.
2. Acute purulent tonsillitis: also manifested as sore throat, dysphagia, fever, etc., due to the heavier inflammation, so the pain is more intense. It needs to be given anti-infection treatment, with glucocorticoid to reduce swelling, pain relief and other symptomatic treatments.
3. Pharyngeal cancer: it will manifest as hoarseness, cough, bloody sputum, sore throat and so on. Local invasion of tumor can cause severe pain, and surgery should be adopted as early as possible, supplemented by chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
If there is a severe pain in the throat, it is recommended to go to the hospital in a timely manner, such as the use of drugs to follow the doctor’s instructions.
