Can complex convulsions turn into epilepsy?

Complex convulsions, or complex febrile convulsions, are partially convertible to epilepsy. Clinical features of complex febrile convulsions include age less than 6 months or more than 6 years old, body temperature less than 38.5 ℃ during the convulsive seizure, seizure manifestations are mostly limited, convulsions can last more than 10-15 minutes, there are repeated multiple seizures within 24 hours, and electroencephalograms are still showing abnormalities two weeks after normalization of body temperature. Complex febrile convulsions have a poorer prognosis, and brain damage and mental retardation can occur or turn into epilepsy. If the child has symptoms of convulsions, it is recommended to go to the regular hospital to receive examination and treatment as soon as possible, so as not to delay the condition and have adverse consequences.
