Purpose of biopsy for gastric ulcers

The purpose of gastric ulcer biopsy is: 1) to clarify the diagnosis of peptic ulcer, and at the same time, to see if there is any Helicobacter pylori infection; 2) to exclude the possibility of gastric cancer, peptic ulcer, especially gastric ulcer, some of them are easy to be transformed into gastric cancer, especially when combined with Helicobacter pylori infection, it will be more easy to be transformed into gastric cancer. Therefore, the purpose of biopsy for gastric ulcer is mainly to: firstly, clarify the diagnosis of gastric ulcer; secondly, exclude whether there is any combination of gastric cancer, for example, if there is any combination of gastric cancer, then radical surgical resection and systematic lymph node dissection should be done for gastric cancer in a timely manner.
