In patients with liver depression and stagnation of qi, the symptoms include plumpness in the epigastrium and abdomen, fullness in the chest and hypochondrium (chest and ribs), irritability, vomiting and belching, or vomiting of bitter water, and the formula is Yueju Pill combined with Hovenia Margaritas Pill. For weak spleen and stomach, symptoms include fullness in the epigastrium and abdomen, a preference for warmth and pressure, loose stools (scanty and unformed feces), and lack of qi and laziness in speech (lack of strength, not wanting to speak), the formula is tonifying the middle Jiao Qi (treating qi deficiency by tonifying the spleen) Tang. For deficiency of stomach yin (insufficient yin fluid in the stomach), the symptoms may include abdominal and stomach constipation, hunger, nausea, belching, dry mouth and throat, and constipation, the formula is Yi Stomach Soup.
