The difference between cardiopulmonary arrest and death is mainly that in the former case, through resuscitation, the patient may still survive, while death cannot be saved.
Cardiopulmonary arrest also refers to the heart and lungs stop working, also known as cardiac arrest, if the brain function has not yet occurred irreversible damage, after cardiopulmonary resuscitation, medication and ventilator and other rescue treatment, the heart and lungs may be restored to the working state, that is, the patient is not dead.
At present, the clinical determination of the patient’s death is often based on brain death, that is, the cerebral blood flow stops, cerebral electrical activity stops, at this time, the patient’s heart and lungs have also stopped working.
Therefore, there is a difference between cardiopulmonary arrest and death, cardiopulmonary arrest does not mean death, brain death can only be recognized as death.
