How long do you survive after bile drainage

Survival time after bile drainage is related to the type of disease, treatment, and the patient’s general condition, and no specific survival time can be determined; some patients may gain a long life expectancy.
1. If the patient is due to benign diseases, such as bile duct stones or cholangitis, after bile drainage and regular treatment, it can usually be cured without affecting normal life expectancy.
2. If the obstructive jaundice is caused by malignant diseases, such as pancreatic cancer, tumors in the jugular abdomen, cholangiocarcinoma, etc., the survival time is relatively shorter, and it needs to be judged comprehensively according to the surgical method and the stage of cancer. If active treatment may delay the life expectancy, the survival time usually ranges from several months to several years. For example, if early stage cholangiocarcinoma undergoes radical surgery after bile drainage, the 5-year survival rate can reach 70%.
It is suggested that patients should actively cooperate with the treatment in order to get a good prognosis of the disease.
