High blood creatinine alone may be due to kidney disease or physiological conditions such as strenuous exercise and consumption of large amount of meat.
1. Physiological conditions: blood creatinine may rise after strenuous exercise or consuming a large amount of meat, and will usually return to normal after rest and diet control.
2. Kidney diseases: including drug-induced kidney injury and chronic kidney disease. Drugs that cause drug-induced kidney injury include antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, proton pump inhibitors, diuretics, Guanmutong and so on. Unexplained glomerular filtration rate (calculated from blood creatinine) for ≥3 months is considered chronic kidney disease.
Patients with elevated blood creatinine alone should go to the hospital in time to have the cause clarified under the guidance of a specialized physician for prompt treatment.
