Alcohol is usually advised against after minimally invasive surgery for pituitary tumors. Although minimally invasive surgery for pituitary tumor is less traumatic, like all other surgical procedures, long-term or large amount of postoperative alcohol consumption will lead to impaired liver function, gastric mucous membrane erosion and bleeding, and even the possibility of traumatic injury to the head after alcohol consumption, therefore, it is usually recommended to refrain from drinking alcohol after minimally invasive surgery for pituitary tumor. Firstly, alcohol consumption should be prohibited in 1~2 weeks after surgery, especially after applying antibiotics, to prevent disulfiram-like reaction and endanger the patient’s life. Secondly, drinking alcohol within 2~4 weeks after surgery may cause cerebral vasodilatation, resulting in bleeding from mucous membranes and blood vessels that have not fully healed from the surgical route. Alcohol consumption is also not recommended from a health point of view. After minimally invasive surgery for pituitary tumor, it is necessary to go to the neurosurgery department of regular hospitals for follow-up, and it is not recommended to drink alcohol after surgery, and it is necessary to follow the doctor’s advice according to the patient’s own and postoperative conditions.
