The original point of the Gallbladder Meridian is the Qiu Hui point, the exact location of which is in the ankle area, anterior and inferior to the outer ankle, in the lateral depression of the tendon of the extensor digitorum longus. Qiu Hui point belongs to the Foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian and is the original point of the Gallbladder Meridian. This point is located in the ankle area, anterior and inferior to the ankle, in the lateral depression of the tendon of the long extensor digitorum longus. Qiu Hui point has the effects of relaxing tendons and activating collaterals, regulating qi and relieving pain, and dredging the liver and inducing bile. Qiu Hui point is often used to treat eye redness and swelling pain, cataracts in the eyes, neck pain, axillary swelling, chest and ribs pain, ankle swelling and pain, foot inversion, foot prolapse, etc. This point is often used in the clinic for the treatment of pain in the chest and ribs, and for the treatment of pain in the ankle. Commonly used combinations of this point include: with the pupil’s eye point to treat cataracts of the eyes; with the Xingma point, Kunlun point and Taichong point to treat inability of the feet to move; and with the Euming point, Taiyang point, Fengchi point and Taichong point to treat swollen and painful redness of the eyes.
