Maitong has the efficacy of nourishing yin and generating fluids, moisturizing the lungs and clearing the heart, and can be used to treat dry lungs and coughs, heartburn and insomnia, and intestinal dryness and constipation. There is no such thing as the best pairing of maitong, and this product is often used in conjunction with dihuang and yuzhu.
Ophiopogon is slightly cold in nature, sweet and bitter in taste, with the effect of nourishing yin, moistening the lung and clearing the heart. It can be used to treat lung dryness and dry cough, sore throat (pharynx is red, swollen and painful, or dry, with foreign body sensation, or pharyngeal itchiness and discomfort, difficulty in swallowing), internal heat and thirst (internal heat accompanied by symptoms such as eating, drinking and urinating), heartburn and insomnia, intestinal dryness and constipation.
If treating yin deficiency and lung dryness (deficiency of yin in the body, resulting in lung dryness without nourishment), dry and sore throat, dry cough with little phlegm or phlegm with blood, etc., it is often used together with dihuang (地黄), xuanshen (玄参), and chuanbeimu (川贝母), such as nourishing yin and clearing the lungs cream.
For the treatment of vague burning pain in the stomach and epigastric region, dry mouth and tongue, and dullness (lack of appetite and reduced food intake) caused by deficiency of stomach yin (insufficient yin fluid in the stomach), it is often used together with bei sha shen (北沙参), dendrobium (斛) and yuzhu (玉竹) such as Pellet of Yin Deficiency and Stomach Pain.
