Cervical spondylosis belongs to the category of “paralysis of the neck” in Chinese medicine. Pueraria Mirifica can be used for the treatment of wind-cold cervical spondylosis after identification under the guidance of a doctor.
Pueraria Mirifica Tang is composed of Pueraria Mirifica, Ephedra, Gui Zhi, Paeoniae Lactiflorae, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, etc. It is mainly used in treating the symptoms of wind-cold syndrome, such as cold (fear of cold), fever, headache, body ache and no sweating, slight pain in the abdomen, dyspepsia, dry vomiting and wheezing, with a pale tongue, white fur, and a floating and taut pulse. Under the doctor’s diagnosis, cervical spondylosis caused by wind-cold can be treated with Ge Ge Tang plus reduction.
However, not all types of cervical spondylosis can be treated with Pueraria Mirifica Tang. The causes of cervical spondylosis can be found in different diagnostic types, such as deficiency of liver and kidney, stagnation of qi and blood stasis, wind-cold-dampness, and phlegm and stasis blocking the collaterals. For cervical spondylosis caused by other reasons, it is not suitable to apply Ge Gen Tang for treatment.
