Long-term sinusitis may lead to nasal cancer theoretically, but the possibility of nasal cancer caused by sinusitis is relatively small. Sinusitis is an inflammatory disease of sinus mucosa caused by various reasons, such as trauma, bacterial infection, spread of inflammation in neighboring organs, etc. For nasal cancer, it may also be triggered by inflammation, but the possibility is very small. The real etiology of nasal and sinus cancer has not been clearly defined so far, which may be related to long-term chronic inflammatory stimulation causing large squamous metaplasia of mucosal epithelium. In addition, long-term inhalation of certain irritating or chemical carcinogenic substances can induce malignant tumors of nose and sinus. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma may be related to heredity, EBV infection and environmental factors. 1. Genetic factors, such as HLA-A2 at A locus and Singapore 2 (sin2) at B locus of human leukocyte antigen (HLA), are related to the occurrence of nasopharyngeal cancer. 2. EB virus is also known as human herpesvirus type 4, and the detection rate of EB virus is higher in patients with nasopharyngeal cancer. 3. Environmental factors, such as residents in the high incidence area of nasopharyngeal cancer in the south of China have the habit of eating salted fish, preserved meat and other cured food, which may cause nasopharyngeal cancer. It should be noted that if patients have sinusitis, they should go to the hospital in time to find out the cause of the disease and take active treatment so as not to delay the condition.
