What should I do if my baby is still jaundiced after 10 days of birth?

If your baby has jaundice for ten days after birth, you need to clarify the type and cause of jaundice, and at the same time, you need to carry out active treatment to reduce jaundice.
1. Physiological jaundice: jaundice appears 2~3 days after birth of full-term babies, peaks in 4~5 days, subsides in 5~7 days, and does not exceed 2 weeks at the latest; jaundice of preterm babies appears 3~5 days after birth, peaks in 5~7 days, subsides in 7~9 days, and can be delayed up to 3~4 weeks at the longest. Jaundice in ten days after birth may be normal, no special treatment is needed.
2. Pathological jaundice: jaundice persists for more than 2 weeks in full-term babies and more than 4 weeks in preterm babies, and then it is necessary to give blue light irradiation, intravenous infusion of albumin, or even hemodialysis according to the level of serum bilirubin to reduce jaundice treatment.
If your baby is still jaundiced after 10 days of birth, you need to bring your baby to the neonatology department of the hospital in time to improve the liver function, blood routine, G6PD, liver and gallbladder ultrasound and other relevant examinations to clarify the type of jaundice and the reason why your baby’s jaundice doesn’t go away and the severity of jaundice.
