Chronic nephritis is known as chronic glomerulonephritis, which may eventually develop into renal failure. Chronic nephritis can be categorized according to the pathology: microscopic lesion glomerulonephritis, focal segmental hyperplastic sclerosing glomerulonephritis, thylakoid proliferative glomerulonephritis, membranous nephropathy, and membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis. Different types of chronic nephritis develop into renal failure at different speeds, but all types of chronic nephritis may gradually progress to different degrees of glomerulosclerosis, tubular atrophy, and interstitial fibrosis, and will eventually progress to chronic renal failure if not controlled by effective treatment. Only through proactive medical treatment and proper treatment can the progression of the disease be controlled.
