Are uterine suspension and mesh the same thing?

Uterine suspension and mesh are not the same thing.
1. Uterine suspension: Generally for patients with uterine prolapse, the commonly used surgical treatment is high sacral ligament suspension, which can be divided into round ligament suspension and abdominal wall fixation. Round ligament suspension is suitable for patients with mild uterine prolapse, and abdominal wall fixation is suitable for older female patients.
2. Mesh: Uterine prolapse can also be improved by implanting mesh transvaginally, which mainly involves lifting up the prolapsed organs through some mesh. There may be vaginal bleeding after this surgery, which may be related to the damage of the muscles on both sides of the vaginal wall.
Uterine suspension and mesh are two types of surgical procedures to treat uterine prolapse, and these two are not the same thing. If a woman has uterine prolapse, she should talk to her doctor in time to understand her condition, and choose the appropriate treatment under her doctor’s guidance.
