Why is the skin on the palms of the hands thickened and hardened?

Thickening and hardening of the skin on the palms of the hands may be caused by palmoplantar keratosis, callus, tinea cruris and other causes.

3. Ringworm: it is a superficial skin fungal infection of the hand caused by dermatophytes, mostly involving in the interphalangeal region, palm of the hand, and in serious cases, it can spread to the back of the hand and wrist, and the patient may have blisters on the hand, desquamation, rough and thickening of the skin, accompanied by roughness of the palm, peeling and so on.
