Postoperative considerations for children with comminuted arm fractures

Children with comminuted arm fracture need to pay attention to immobilization of the fracture, diligent observation of the affected area, attention to nutritional supplementation and other matters.
1. Fixation of the fracture: after the operation, the child’s arm should be fixed in front of the chest to reduce the influence of external force, which is conducive to the recovery of the limb. After the fracture, we should pay attention to children’s activities, not too strenuous, to avoid re-injury and aggravate the condition.
2. Diligent observation of the affected area: the child’s arm should be observed diligently, there is no blood flow of the distal fingers, there is no swelling, whether the hand color is red and so on. When the above problems occur, we can consider whether it is due to the tight fixation of the plaster or splint and the obstruction of blood flow.
3. Pay attention to nutritional supplements: such as drinking more milk, sunbathing, calcium supplements, and enough vitamins. This is conducive to children’s fracture healing, improve physical quality, in order to recover faster and better.
It is recommended that children should pay attention to the exercise of muscle strength of limb parts after surgery, in order to prevent the muscle tissue from atrophying in a long time of inactivity, the formation of wasting muscle atrophy.
