The lumbar vertebrae are known as the lumbar spine. Treatment should be taken according to the cause of lumbar spine soreness. Common causes of lumbar spine pain include lumbar muscle strain, lumbar disc herniation, ankylosing spondylitis and so on. Commonly used treatments include general treatment, physical therapy, medication and surgery.
1. Lumbar muscle strain: Correct bad posture, strengthen lumbar back muscle exercise, and wear a waist protector if necessary. Physiotherapy such as massage and acupuncture can promote local blood circulation and reduce symptoms. For severe cases, non-steroidal analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs such as diclofenac sodium and blood activating drugs such as safflower oil can be used.
2. Lumbar intervertebral disc herniation: Generally, strict bed rest, lumbar girdle protection, and appropriate activities on the ground. Traction, acupuncture, massage, etc. can relieve symptoms. Commonly used drugs include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, muscle relaxants such as chlorzoxazone, and glucocorticosteroids such as budesonide. If the symptoms are severe, recurrent and gradually worsening, surgery can be performed.
3. Ankylosing spondylitis: generally symptomatic treatment, such as aerobic exercise such as swimming, Tai Chi, etc., to avoid resting in the side bending position. Acupuncture, massage, cupping and so on can relieve the symptoms. Commonly used drugs are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as celecoxib, anti-tumor necrosis factor α antagonists such as adalimumab, and anti-rheumatic drugs such as lorazepam. Surgery is required for severe cases.
Lumbar spine pain may have other causes such as lumbar spine tuberculosis, etc. It is recommended to go to the hospital in time, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease and standardize the treatment.
