Peony bark is bitter, sweet and slightly cold in nature, and is attributed to the heart, liver and kidney meridians.
Peony Peel is the dried root bark of peony, family Buttercupaceae. It can clear heat and cool blood, activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis. Mudanpi with rhubarb is used in the early stage of intestinal carbuncle (carbuncle occurring in the intestines and viscera, manifested by fever, pain in the right abdomen and palpable lumps), abdominal pain with stasis of blood and heat, pain in the thoracic region, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, etc. Mudanpi with radix Paeoniae Alba is used in the treatment of vomiting of blood and epistaxis when heat enters into the blood of the camps of warm-heat illnesses, and in the case of amenorrhea and irregular periods of women suffering from heat in the blood, stasis of the blood and deficiency of the blood.
Because of the cold nature of Mudanpi, it is forbidden to be taken by pregnant women and women with excessive menstruation because of blood deficiency and coldness. It is recommended that patients be treated with medication under the guidance of a doctor, do not take medication on your own.
