Is menopause the same as menopause?

Menopause is the common name for what is clinically known as perimenopausal syndrome, a series of physical and mental symptoms that occur in women around the time of menopause. Perimenopausal syndrome refers to the transitional stage from the reproductive period to old age, which can be divided into the menopausal transition period, the menopausal period and the postmenopausal period, and not only refers to the menopausal period alone. This disease occurs mainly due to the decline of ovarian function and the gradual decrease of sex hormone level, which leads to neuroendocrine changes in the body, resulting in women’s menstrual changes, which are mainly manifested in the decrease of menstrual flow, shortening of menstrual time, and longer intervals between menstruation periods, until the complete menopause. However, some women may experience shorter intervals, increased menstrual flow, and irregular bleeding until menopause; a very small number of women may experience sudden menopause, which may be accompanied by redness of the skin on the face and neck, palpitations, dizziness, irritability, and mood swings. Perimenopausal syndrome is a natural physiological process and women should face it with a positive mindset and seek medical advice if they feel unwell.
