What is a small duodenal diverticulum?

A duodenal diverticulum is a pouch-like projection of part of the intestinal wall into the lumen.
The high incidence of duodenal diverticula is mainly due to the weakness of the duodenal intestinal wall and the increased pressure in the intestinal lumen, which results in the formation of a pouch-like protrusion outward into the intestinal lumen.
Diverticula of the duodenum usually do not present with obvious symptoms, but some patients may present with belching (burping), nausea, vomiting, etc. In severe cases, perforation or other complications may occur. Small duodenal diverticula usually do not require special treatment. If complications occur, they should be treated in a timely manner, and if necessary, the diverticulum can be removed surgically to avoid various complications.
If the patient is diagnosed with duodenal diverticulum, it is recommended to go to the regular hospital in time, after clarifying the cause of the disease, under the guidance of the doctor for targeted treatment.
