Cardiac stents do not usually cause atrial fibrillation.
A cardiac stent is a medical device commonly used in cardiac interventions, mainly for coronary artery stenosis, to improve blood flow.
Atrial fibrillation is the most common type of persistent arrhythmia and is associated with hypertension, coronary artery disease, cardiac surgery, valvular disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy and other factors. Atrial fibrillation may also be caused if there is prolonged alcohol consumption, stress, and water-electrolyte disorders.
Therefore, cardiac stent itself generally does not cause atrial fibrillation. If atrial fibrillation occurs after cardiac stent surgery, it may be caused by the disease itself, such as acute myocardial infarction, which is easily accompanied by ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation and so on, and atrial fibrillation may recur after the surgery.
Atrial fibrillation after cardiac stenting is recommended to inform your doctor in time and be treated under your doctor’s guidance.
