The medicinal source of Fishweed is the fresh whole grass or dried above-ground part of Houttuynia cordata, family Sambucaceae, which is effective in clearing away heat and removing toxins, eliminating carbuncle and draining pus, and inducing diuresis and diaphoresis (to improve the problem of dribbling of urine and the problem of small and incomprehensible amount of urine).
Fishweed can be used to treat or improve lung carbuncle pus, phlegm-heat cough, hot diarrhea, feverish drenching (burning and tingling during urination, accompanied by urinary frequency and urgency, and abdominal discomfort) and sores (skin diseases caused by poisonous evils, resulting in stagnation of qi and blood) and other conditions, but should be avoided in cold and yin sores.
Chenpi is the dried mature fruit peel of orange and its cultivated varieties in the family of Rutaceae, which has the efficacy of regulating qi and strengthening the spleen, drying dampness and resolving phlegm (expelling dampness and resolving phlegm by drying dampness), and can be used in the treatment of Chenpi in the case of distension of the epigastric region (stomach and abdomen), poor appetite, vomiting and diarrhea, and coughing with much phlegm. However, Chen Pi should be used with caution for those with internal solid heat and red tongue with little fluid.
