There are many ways to measure strabismus, but the commonly used clinical methods are corneal reflection + alternating cover, alternating cover + prism method and synoptiscope.
1. Corneal reflection + alternate masking: This is a basic ophthalmologic examination method and a rough measurement of the degree of strabismus, which can determine whether there is internal or external strabismus at the beginning of the examination and whether further examination is needed.
2. Alternate cover + prism method: This method measures the degree of strabismus through the use of a prism, which is a relatively accurate and widely used clinical measurement method. However, it is also related to the experience of the examining doctor and the state of the patient during the examination, so it is usually necessary to take several measurements before the operation to make the result more accurate.
3. Synoptiscope: Synoptiscope is also a relatively accurate measurement method, but the examination process is relatively cumbersome and requires a high degree of cooperation from the patient, so it is less frequently used than the prism method in clinical practice.
