The normal fasting blood glucose value range for pregnant women is 3.1~5.1mmol/L, and the one hour and two hours postprandial blood glucose values are lower than 10mmol/L and 8.5mmol/L respectively. Normal human fasting blood glucose value is 3.9~6.1mmol/L. Because of the increase of glucose acquisition from the mother by the fetus during pregnancy, the increase of glucose excretion in the urine and the increase of glucose utilization by the mother, which leads to the enhancement of glucose clearance ability of the pregnant woman compared with the non-pregnancy period, the fasting blood glucose value is slightly lower than the normal range. It is recommended that pregnant women check their blood glucose at 24 to 28 weeks of pregnancy. If the pregnant woman’s blood glucose is too high, it is easy to get infections and even induce ketoacidosis, which may lead to abnormal embryonic development, macrosomia, excessive amniotic fluid, and high blood pressure during pregnancy. Gestational diabetes mellitus is harmful to both mother and child, and should be taken seriously. If the blood glucose range is significantly higher than normal, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital for guidance and treatment.
