When is the best time to measure fasting blood glucose

Fasting blood glucose is usually better tested early in the morning between 6am and 8am. Fasting blood glucose (FPG) is blood glucose measured without any calorie intake for at least 8 hours. Since the distribution of blood glucose in the body has high and low levels during the day, it is best to measure it between 6am and 8am in order to avoid the effects of hormones such as glucagon and insulin on blood glucose. Fasting should also be maintained for at least 8 hours for better testing and more accurate results. In addition to fasting blood glucose, blood glucose testing also includes random blood glucose (at any point in time) or 2-hour blood glucose values (2hPG) in the OGTT. When diabetes is suspected, you should seek medical advice and treatment under the guidance of your doctor.
