Tuberculosis Pill is composed of tortoise shell, northern saxifrage, dragon bone, calcined purple quartz, maitong, rhubarb, white and mother of pearl, etc. It is a brownish-black concentrated pill. It has slight gas, sweet and bitter taste, and has the effect of nourishing yin and lowering fire, tonifying the lungs and relieving cough.
This medicine is used in treating hot flashes and night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep and stopping after waking up), coughing up phlegm and coughing up blood, stuffy pain in the chest and ribs (chest and ribcage area collectively), bone vapor and consumptive coughing, tuberculosis of the lungs, and tuberculosis of the bones, etc., caused by Yin deficiency and fire exuberance.
Note that this drug is contraindicated in cases of fever and malignant cold (fear of cold) and cough with yellow phlegm caused by exopathogens. It is prohibited to use when there is a change in the character.
