Pityriasis rosea is a self-limiting disease that most often resolves on its own after a period of time and usually leaves no scarring. Pityriasis rosea is an acute, self-limiting, eruptive skin disease, the cause of which is currently unknown and may be related to viral infections and immunocompromise. Pityriasis rosea lesions are mainly rose-colored patches covered with furfuraceous scales and are often accompanied by itchy symptoms. The disease can subside on its own, and since the lesions do not involve the dermis, there is usually no scarring after the disease has healed. If the skin is not properly cared for, such as scratching the skin hard enough to cause skin breakage, antihistamines such as ebastine and loratadine can be used to relieve the symptoms as prescribed by the doctor.
