Intravenous fluids cannot treat varicose veins. The only effective treatment for varicose veins is surgery, and for patients who cannot tolerate surgery, conservative treatment can be used to relieve symptoms. Varicose veins are caused by increased pressure within the superficial veins due to weak vein walls and defective vein valves in the lower extremities. The function of the venous valves is impaired and drug therapy is ineffective. Conservative treatment is often used first, such as wearing medical compression stockings or applying compression bandages, while avoiding triggers (avoiding prolonged standing and sitting, intermittent elevation of the affected limb, etc.). Conservative treatment can only relieve the symptoms but not cure varicose veins. If the effect of conservative treatment is not good, surgical treatment should be considered, which is commonly used in clinics, such as high saphenous vein ligation and varicose vein stripping. The diagnosis of varicose veins should be treated regularly to avoid the progression of the disease and its negative consequences.
