Appendicitis is septic for ten days. Is it dangerous?

Appendicitis suppuration delayed for 10 days may result in the formation of a periappendiceal abscess, which can be treated conservatively at first, or it may develop into peritonitis, etc., which requires emergency surgical treatment. In acute appendicitis, if suppuration occurs and is not treated in time, the suppurating appendix may be encapsulated by the greater omentum and the surrounding adjacent intestinal tract, and a periappendiceal abscess may form after the inflammation is confined. For periappendiceal abscess, anti-infective treatment with cefoperazone and other combination of metronidazole should be given first, and active rehydration should be performed. When the situation is stabilized, surgery should be performed at a later date. If the inflammation develops more quickly, causing suppuration or even perforation, gangrene, etc., without timely surgery, and the appendix is not wrapped, it may also form pelvic abscess, diffuse peritonitis, septic portal phlebitis or even shock, etc., which are more critical and require emergency surgery for treatment. Appendicitis suppuration should be actively anti-infective treatment, if necessary, timely surgical treatment, so as to avoid aggravation of the condition.
