How long does it take to walk with a broken heel?

The walking time of heel fracture is mainly related to the degree of fracture and fixation method, generally it takes from 8 weeks to 3 months. 1. Patients with solid plate fixation: wear shoes with soft cushion or high top to support the crutches to go down to the ground on the 3rd~4th day after the operation, partially weight-bearing after 8 weeks, increase the weight-bearing on the 10th~12th week, and if they can bear it themselves, they can fully weight-bearing step by step. 2. Patients with plaster fixation and large bone grafts: partial weight bearing should be extended to 3 months. 3. Patients with Kirschner’s pin fixation of talar and heel joints: strengthen the weight-bearing exercises after removing the Kirschner’s pin in the 6th week after surgery, and allow full weight-bearing in 3 months after surgery. 4. Non-displaced or mildly displaced calcaneal fracture: cast or brace external fixation for 4~6 weeks, crutches to help walking and avoid weight bearing, rehabilitation exercises after cast removal. Specific walking time is recommended according to the results of review and follow the doctor’s advice.
