Do adults get pinworms too?

Human beings are generally susceptible to pinworm disease, although it is most common in children, but adults are also infected, mainly through the digestive tract. Pinworm disease is an infectious disease caused by the parasitism of helminths (i.e., pinworms) in the intestinal tract of the body, and humans are the only final hosts of pinworms. The patient is the only source of pinworm disease, and the eggs excreted by the body are infectious. Pinworms are mainly transmitted through the digestive tract. Eggs can be transmitted directly by hand from the anus to the mouth. Some patients can be indirectly infected by contact with contaminated household items or food; infected through the respiratory tract by swallowing the eggs floating in the air; eggs hatch around the anus, retrograde from the anus into the intestine and retrograde infection and so on. Personal hygiene should be observed in daily life. If there is any discomfort, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time for diagnosis and treatment.
