If the amount of bleeding is small or the treatment is timely, it may not affect the life. If the amount of bleeding is large, it may cause severe complications such as portal hypertensive gastroenteropathy, peritonitis, hemorrhagic shock, and even direct circulatory failure and death. In addition, due to the existence of cirrhosis, even after the current variceal sclerotherapy or variceal rupture and bleeding ligation treatment, without controlling the primary disease, there is a risk of bleeding again and causing death.
