What is the depth of needling at the Di Ji point?

The depth of needling at the Di Ji point is 1 to 2 inches.
Di Ji point is an acupoint of the Foot Tai Yin Spleen meridian, on the line between the tip of the inner ankle and Yang Ling Quan on the inner side of the lower leg, three inches below Yang Ling Quan. Di Ji point has the efficacy effect of strengthening the spleen and seeping away dampness, regulating menstruation and stopping leucorrhea (regulating menstruation and reducing abnormally increased leucorrhea). It is mostly used in the treatment of abdominal pain, abdominal distension, loss of appetite, dysmenorrhea, and metrorrhagia (excessive menstrual flow or dribbling).
The Di Ji point is covered with the endothelial nerve of the lower leg, the tibial nerve in the deep posterior part, the saphenous vein in the anterior part, and the posterior tibial artery and vein in the deeper part. Needling too deeply or inaccurately locating the point can easily damage the blood vessels and nerves.
Most of the Di Ji points are chosen to be stabbed 1 to 2 inches straight, if the needling is too shallow to achieve the therapeutic effect, and the needling is too deep which sometimes leads to the damage of the blood vessels and nerves. It is recommended that acupuncture treatment be carried out under the guidance of a professional doctor.
