Cun Dong and Mai Dong are the same kind of traditional Chinese medicine, there is no difference.
It is slightly cold in nature, sweet and bitter in taste, and belongs to the stomach, heart and lung meridians. It has the functions of nourishing yin and generating fluids, moistening the lungs and clearing the heart, and can be used for treating lung dryness and dry cough with little phlegm, dry and sore throat due to lung yin insufficiency, as well as gastric and epigastric hidden pains, thirst due to insufficient yin fluids in the stomach and dry and lumpy stools due to gastric yin insufficiency, as well as heart and spirit restlessness, palpitation and insomnia due to heart yin insufficiency.
When treating yin deficiency and lung dryness (deficiency of yin and fluid in the body, resulting in lung dryness not being moisturized) and dry cough, it is often used in combination with drugs such as Chuanbei, Di Huang and Xuan Shen; when treating gastric yin deficiency, dry mouth and tongue and dry vomiting, it can be used in combination with drugs such as Dendrobium and Jade Bamboo.
The adverse reactions and contraindications of Cundong are not clear. If you need to use cun dong to treat diseases, it is recommended to use under the guidance of a doctor, do not take drugs blindly.
