How to bend a tibial fracture after surgery

Flexion of the joints after tibia fracture includes two kinds of functional exercises for the knee and the ankle, which can be categorized into active and passive exercises, and it is recommended to follow the doctor’s instructions.
1. Active exercise: you can lie flat on the bed for knee flexion exercise, you can put a pillow or a higher quilt under the knee, so as to ensure that the knee joint has a larger angle of flexion and extension as much as possible. Or sit on the edge of the bed, hanging down the calf, the use of gravity to exercise the knee joint.
The ankle joint function exercise can actively flex and extend the ankle joint, you can use your hand or elastic band to cover the forefoot, and then stirrup the palm of the foot activities.
2. Passive exercise: passive exercise is mainly to use the hospital CPM machine, i.e., limb intelligent movement training therapy nursing care device, the main role is to meet the bedridden patients to do limb straightening, flexion, abduction and other full range of passive movement. The lower leg can be strapped to the machine, and the movement of the machine will drive the knee joint to perform flexion and extension exercises.
Passive exercise of the ankle joint is mainly with the help of family members to perform flexion and extension of the ankle joint, which can be done in bed with the help of family members to perform stirrup foot movement.
After tibial fracture surgery, it is recommended to follow the doctor’s instructions to carry out activities and exercises, and not blindly exercise on their own, so as not to cause adverse consequences.
