What to do if your 2-month-old baby has a lot of eye boogers and tears

Two-month-old babies with a lot of eye boogers and tears may be caused by blocked tear ducts, impaction, conjunctivitis, etc. Depending on the cause of the disease, physical therapy, medication, and surgical treatment can be taken to relieve eye discomfort.
1. Lacrimal duct obstruction: Children with lacrimal duct obstruction may be caused by incomplete development of the lower end of the nasolacrimal duct or residual mucosal tissue at the lower end of the nasolacrimal duct at birth, which may be manifested as excessive eye droppings and tearing. Localized eye massage can be used to help open the lower end of the tear duct. Conservative treatment is ineffective, then consider surgical treatment, such as conjunctival sac nasal anastomosis.
2. Inverted eyelashes: children with inverted eyelashes may have tearing and increased eye discharge due to eyelash irritation. Infantile impaction can be treated with physical massage, physical extraction, electrolysis and radiofrequency ablation. If the child is also accompanied by blepharoplasty, the child can be treated by surgery, such as blepharoplasty.
3. Conjunctivitis: Under the stimulation of conjunctivitis and other ocular inflammation, children may have increased ocular secretion, photophobia, tearing and other uncomfortable symptoms, and children can follow the doctor’s instructions to use medication, such as tobramycin eye drops, etc., to control the inflammation and promote recovery.
It is recommended that children with excessive eye discharge and tearing should consult a doctor in time to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions to avoid delaying their condition.
