Inhaling flour in the nose may cause rhinitis and sinusitis, aspiration pneumonia, pneumoconiosis and other diseases, which may be harmful to the organism.
1. Rhinitis and sinusitis: after inhaling a large amount of flour in the nose, such as the formation of mucus-like substances in the nasal cavity, preventing the cilia on the surface of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity from oscillating, reducing the transport of dust and phagocytosis and defense clearance function, which in turn breaks the normal physiological balance in the nasal cavity, may lead to the occurrence of rhinitis and sinusitis.
2. Aspiration pneumonia: If the flour inhaled for a long time contains pathogens, when one’s physical condition is poor and immune function is weak, it will easily lead to the reproduction of pathogens on the mucous membrane of lung tissue, resulting in the occurrence of aspiration pneumonia, which is usually accompanied by coughing, chest tightness, fever and other uncomfortable symptoms.
3. Pneumoconiosis: If a large amount of flour is inhaled for a long period of time, it is easy to make the flour unable to be discharged out of the body, and even accumulates in the lung tissues, which may trigger pneumoconiosis in the long run, and when the condition is serious, it will also lead to fibrous changes in the lungs to different degrees, which will lead to the patient experiencing progressive aggravation of respiratory distress.
If flour is inhaled into the nose, it is recommended to actively seek medical treatment, multidisciplinary systematic examination, to clarify the extent of the disease, and then follow the doctor’s instructions to standardize the treatment.
