Job’s tears, or Coix lacryma, belong to the same source of medicine and food. Job’s tears are used to remove dampness and can be decocted and taken under a doctor’s supervision.
Coix Seed has the effect of inducing diuresis and seepage of dampness (promoting the flow of water to get rid of dampness), invigorating the spleen and stopping diarrhea. It can be used to treat edema, foot fungus, dysuria, diarrhea, carbuncles (carbuncles occurring in the bowels of the intestines and organs, manifested by fever, pain in the right side of the abdomen, and palpable lumps), and warts (sarcomas that grow on the skin).
Job’s tears can be used with Astragalus, Atractylodes macrocephala and Poria to treat oedema caused by spleen deficiency and dampness; it can be used with Ginseng, Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria and white lentil to treat diarrhea caused by spleen deficiency and dampness.
If there is any discomfort, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time. If medication is needed, it should be identified by a doctor and standardized treatment should be followed.
