Treatment of polycystic kidney

Polycystic kidney is a kind of congenital renal abnormality, for hereditary disease, the cortical medulla of bilateral kidneys can be involved, multiple tubular segments of bilateral kidneys or glomerular capsule progressive expansion, the formation of multiple fluid cysts, resulting in varying degrees of renal function damage, and produce a series of symptoms, can be used for general treatment, drug therapy, dialysis treatment and so on.
1. General treatment: Avoid strenuous exercise that may cause kidney damage due to rupture of renal cysts. Those who have concentration dysfunction should ensure sufficient water intake. Avoid the use of caffeine, theophylline and other substances that will increase the production of cAMP, and avoid the use of nephrotoxic drugs.
2. Drug therapy: Hypertension may aggravate the progression of renal function and must be strictly controlled. The preferred drugs are angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI) or angiotensin II receptor antagonists (ARB), including valsartan, irbesartan, enalapril, captopril and so on.
3. Dialysis treatment: Patients who have progressed to end-stage renal disease should receive timely renal replacement therapy, including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplantation.
