Are iodophor and iodine the same thing?

Iodine i.e. tincture of iodine, iodophor and tincture of iodine are not the same thing, iodophor and tincture of iodine both have a disinfecting effect, but tincture of iodine has alcohol content, which is somewhat different from iodophor. Some patients may experience local irritation and other adverse reactions after using iodophor or tincture of iodine, and it is prohibited for people with allergies. Povidone-iodine and tincture of iodine both contain iodine, both have the effect of sterilization and disinfection, but these two are not the same thing. Povidone-iodine and tincture of iodine are made in different ways and with different compositions. Povidone-iodine is mainly made with water as the solvent, which is mild and has no irritation to the skin; however, tincture of iodine is made with alcohol as the solvent, and alcohol will be added during the production, so it has a certain degree of irritation to the skin, so povidone-iodine and tincture of iodine are not the same thing. Some patients may experience localized irritation after using iodophor or tincture of iodine, which is an adverse reaction but will disappear on its own without special treatment. If the patient is allergic to iodine, he/she cannot use iodophor and tincture of iodine, and if he/she is allergic to alcohol, he/she cannot use tincture of iodine to prevent allergic symptoms such as generalized red rash and difficulty in breathing. There is a difference between iodophor and tincture of iodine, but both can be disinfected, patients can choose according to their own needs.
